10 reasons why people fail a driving test

W hen learning to drive it's natural for errors to happen, that's just part of the learning process.

However, by the time you take a driving test, you the candidate should be driving with confidence and without help of the driving instructor.

The current driving test pass rate in Essex, is typically only 40%, although this varies regionally for each individual test centre although for first time candidates, it's even lower.

  1. Observation at junctions
  2. Ineffective observation and judgement
  3. Use of mirrors
  4. Not checking or not acting on the information
  5. Reverse Parking
  6. Ineffective observation or a lack of accuracy
  7. Reversing around a corner
  8. Ineffective observation or a lack of accuracy
  9. Incorrect use of signals
  10. Not cancelling or giving misleading signals
  11. Moving away safely
  12. Ineffective observation
  13. Incorrect positioning on the road
  14. At roundabouts or on bends
  15. Lack of steering control
  16. Steering too early or leaving it too late
  17. Incorrect positioning to turn right
  18. At junctions and in one way streets
  19. Inappropriate speed
  20. Travelling too slowly or being hesitant
