Speed limits down

22 April, 2009

H ere we go again, the Govenments new 10 year plan to reduce deaths and casualties.

Clearly we adhere to teaching a 'skill for life', and so applaud this new measure, but,why do we have to blame the learners.

How many speed related accidents are people learning to drive involved in? Infact isn't it stereotypical that learners drive too slowly.  What happens then, people get frustrated and make a dangerous manoeuvre.  Wouldn't this happen with slower speed limits?

Not all drivers are the same and so we shouldn't paint them with the same brush.

Wouldn't it be more sensible for compulsory re-testing every five years for all drivers? If we are really interested in road safety...  then again it's so easy to blame young drivers, van drivers, in fact anyone except ourselves!

What do you think?
