Driving instructors in Tilbury urged to keep safe

04 November, 2011

K aren's Driving School has received reports of driving instructors in Essex being targeted in their vehicles while stationary at the side of the road or whilst waiting to let people cross the road.

Reports from local Tilbury instructors suggest that in the past few weeks male and female instructors have had possessions taken from the rear seats or simply doors opened by local youths.

As winter approaches and the evenings get darker, it becomes increasingly important for instructors to take simple steps to stay safe.

Similar attacks have been reported over the last couple of years and seem to be increasing whilst police have had difficulty apprehending the culprits.

Our driving instructors are urged to remain vigilant and follow some simple tips relevant to all drivers to keep safe;
Make sure the pupil is dropped off in a secure location at the end of the lesson, such as a college, school or the pupil's home.

Keep all car doors locked whilst in the vehicle.

Keep all valuable items locked away in the boot and out of sight of opportunist thieves.

Karen's School of motoring are trialling the idea of using cashless transactions through the use of a mobile card payments machine this will mean less cash in the vehicle.

Ask your instructor for further details about cashless payments and payment options.
